Microsoft Hires Paper Executive for CFO Job

Chris Liddell, the chief financial officer at International Paper, will assume the same job at Microsoft. Liddell follows John Connors, who left earlier this year to join a venture capital firm.

Liddell's previous employer, like Microsoft, is a Fortune 100 company. Prior to working at International Paper, Liddell was chief executive officer at Carter Holt Harvey in New Zealand.

"Having been both CEO and CFO of international companies gives him the ability to contribute broadly to our finance, operations and business strategy," Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer said in a statement.

Liddell's duties include accounting, reporting, strategic planning, analysis, treasury, tax, audit and investor relations.
