CyberTrust, Sonera Implement Wireless e-Commerce Solution

CyberTrust, a provider of secure extranets and e-commerce, and Sonera SmartTrust, a provider of secure wireless e-commerce solutions, unveiled their plans for the CyberTrust Mobile e-Commerce Solution.. The solution, first implemented for Sonera SmartTrust, enables wireless carriers to provide customers with applications for mobile e-commerce transactions via secure extranets.

The CyberTrust Mobile e-Commerce Solution manages digital certificates and deploys them to the subscriber identification module (SIM). The certificates work in conjunction with digital mobile phones. Because the phones' SIM cards use public-key cryptography techniques which securely identify each user, the transaction is considered legally binding in some jurisdictions, while creating an electrionic audit trail. The solution is being used in conjunction with Finland's Leonia Bank to conduct bank transactions over its mobile network.
