Bloomberg Law Brings Litigation Data Into Microsoft Copilot
Bloomberg Law has announced an integration with Microsoft Copilot that allows legal professionals to access court docket information and litigation intelligence through natural-language queries.
The offering is designed to help attorneys and legal teams retrieve information about cases, monitor litigation activity and conduct research without switching between separate applications. The connector uses Model Context Protocol (MCP), a standard that connects AI applications with external data and tools.
By making Bloomberg Law's legal data available through Copilot, the integration aims to incorporate specialized research capabilities into tools already used by enterprise employees.
For corporate legal departments, access to litigation intelligence within an AI assistant could reduce the manual effort involved in tracking cases and gathering information for legal analysis.
The announcement also illustrates a broader enterprise software trend: connecting proprietary data services to general-purpose AI assistants rather than requiring users to interact exclusively with dedicated applications.
For IT administrators, such integrations introduce considerations around authentication, data access permissions and governance, particularly when employees use AI tools to retrieve potentially sensitive legal information.
The integration reflects growing demand for AI assistants that can work with specialized, authoritative business data instead of relying solely on general-purpose model knowledge.
