As critical mass builds around streaming media services, its users are beginning to wonder the same things that early Webmasters pondered with the World Wide Web sites. How many people are checking it out and what are they doing?
MeasureCast Inc. is one of the companies lining up to help with what it calls audience measurement.
The company announced Tuesday it had entered a marketing and distribution agreement with Microsoft Corp.
MeasureCast software sits on streaming media servers and allows content providers to find out about audience size and demographic information.
Microsoft is making MeasureCast's Active Event Monitoring software plug-in for Windows Media Services available for free download at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/download/.
