Procom Delivers NAS Device

Procom Technology unveiled NetForce 1500, the flagship of its NAS family of appliances.

NetForce 1500 offers up to 360 GB of cross-platform storage capacity. It is a multi-protocol server appliance that allows cross-platform file sharing and file locking with the Network File System (NFS) and Common Internet File System (CIFS) protocols.

Security and remote authentication are supported for both Unix and Windows environments, with NIS and NIS+ support for both platforms. The product also supports Windows NT Access Control List (ACL) and CIFS phased hierarchical setting.

NetForce 1500 is driven by hardware including a RAID controller incorporating a dedicated battery-backed RAID cache, as well as a solid state OS target drive. The protected storage design incorporates support for optional local tape backup. A Java-based GUI allows a centrally located support staff to manage multiple NetForce 1500 filers in a building or at remote sites. The management software is accessible via Web browser.

NetForce 1500 is available in deskside and rackmount configurations. It accommodates up to 10 LVD Ultra-2 SCSI drives for a maximum capacity of 360 GB. The filers can be ordered with 18 or 36 GB drives. NetForce 1500 supports single or dual port 10/100 Ethernet and Gigabit NICs.
