IBM Introduces Hybrid Server Solution

IBM Corp. has integrated its Netfinity line of servers with its recently acquired Sequent division’s NumaCenter server products. The resulting appliance allows a Unix back end with an NT face to the world.

IBM aims the product at enterprises with intensive back end needs whose desktop systems rely on NT. The integration allows the network to treat the product as a single machine, in spite of its multiple machines and switches.

IBM also presents this as a solution for application service providers (ASPs) and customers configuring SANs, since it offers flexibility and expandability.
