TopTier Software Enters Technology Agreement with Baan

TopTier Software Inc. (San Jose, Calif., www.toptiersw.com) today announced a non-exclusive technology license, bundling and distribution agreement with Baan Company N.V. (Reston, Va., www.baan.com). Baan will include Top Tier's HyperRelational technology in select ERP, decision support, e-commerce, finance, supply chain and front-office applications.

Baan will also resell the TopTier Product Suite and will bundle HyperRelational-enabled products with Baan shipments. The multi-year agreement is valued at tens of millions of dollars including additional revenues from maintenance, add-on products, TopTier Product Suite sales and future product development.

TopTier's HyperRelational technology integrates enterprise applications and disparate data sources transparently to the user. TopTier's freeform navigation metaphor, Drag and Relate, lets users intuitively interact with data so they can make informed business decisions. "Enterprise application integration is fueled by line managers' desire to make business processes more efficient," says Shai Agassi, chairman and CTO of TopTier Software.

Using HyperRelational technology, users can navigate closed-loop transactional and analytical systems as part of Baan Enterprise Decision Manager for decision support. HyperRelational technology enables Baan Enterprise Decision Manager to introduce multi-dimensional navigation through the Internet and to integrate both operational and analytical data stores into a single environment. --Brian Ploskina, Assistant Editor
