Microsoft Acknowledges Embedded Partners with 2008 Awards

Yesterday at its Tech-Ed developer conference Microsoft Corp. handed out its 2008 Window Embedded Partner awards.

BSquare won two awards -- one in the category of Systems Integrator, the other as Distributor of the Year. BSquare got its Systems Integrator award for "its leadership role in providing a broad range of engineering services" for both Windows XP and Windows CE Embedded. Its Distributor award resulting from the company "rais[ing] the bar" when it comes logistics and "world-class professional services," Microsoft said in its announcement of the winners.

Another winner was HP, who took the Windows XP Embedded Original Equipment Manufacturer award for its line of XP Embedded-driven devices, as well as "continued leadership in the thin-client space." Magellan won the CE version of this award for its "commitment to creating devices that allow people to travel and work with leading portable navigation and positioning solutions across multiple markets," Microsoft said.

The OEM Embedded Sales division also handed out a Partner Excellence award for Microsoft Specialized Server products. Gilbarco Inc., a supplier of retail fuel-related technology, won this year for its "fully integrated point-of-sale systems utilizing Windows Server for Embedded Systems that work seamlessly with devices running on Windows XP Embedded and Windows XP Professional for Embedded Systems."

Other winners this year are:

"The Windows Embedded Partner Excellence Awards recognize the invaluable contribution partners make to our business through outstanding customer service and innovative uses of Windows Embedded technologies," Ilya Bukshteyn, director of marketing for the Windows Embedded Business at Microsoft, commented in a released statement. "I would like to extend my congratulations and thank each of the 2008 award winners for their commitment to excellence in customer service."

Finalists for the rest of Microsoft's 2008 Partner Award categories will be announced June 9, according to Microsoft's partner site, with the winners unveiled at the company's Worldwide Partner Conference in early July.
