DesktopStandard Corp. announced on Tuesday the release of PolicyMaker Software Update 2.0 at Microsoft’s IT Forum in Barcelona, Spain. The latest version of the Group Policy-based patch management product features the scalable Dragnet central reporting system, leveraging Microsoft SQL Server and SQL Reporting Services. PolicyMaker supports Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003 and is priced $16 per seat. http://www.desktopstandard.com

Opengear Inc. released its remote management solution, Opengear Secure Desktop Tunneling. The tool enables both end users and admins to remotely and securely access and control a computer via Virtual Network Computing (VNC) or Microsoft Remote Desktop. http://www.opengear.com

Echogent Systems released EchoWare Remote Support System, a remote-desktop platform based on open-source components. With EchoWare, support professionals can gain control over customers’ networks without monthly service fees and is firewall-friendly. American Megatrends Inc. released MegaRac Pilot, a software management tool for centralized remote management of servers and desktops embedded with AMI components. Pilot’s GUI provides discovery, health monitoring and remote control of managed devices. The tool supports NT Domain, Active Directory and LDAP. http://www.ami.com

Tevron announced the integration of CitraTest APM with Foglight from Quest Software. Tevron’s end-to-end performance monitoring tool combines with Foglight to offer the ability to monitor an application’s health and performance. http://www.tevron.com

Hexamail POP3 Downloader 2.3 adds full SSL support, allowing secured POP3 accounts to be integrated into a central enterprise e-mail server.
