F5 Releases New Content Switch

F5 Networks Inc. introduced its new Big-IP Content Switch, the new i-TCM product that offers a solution for managing large amounts of Internet content and traffic at line speed. The Big-IP Content Switch uses Intel Corp.'s network processor technology integrated through a standard PCI interface.

The Big-IP Content Switch is built on Intel's IXP1200 network processor to leapfrog the application layer performance of ASIC-based switches. The Big-IP Content Switch provides up to 4 GB per second total bandwidth and is also offered as a field upgrade add-in card for existing Big-IP Controllers. The Big-IP Content Switch is designed to enable e-businesses to deliver advanced Web applications without sacrificing performance.
