Science Systems Buys Coda Unit from Baan

Baan Company and Science Systems announced today that Baan will sell its Coda Accounting software unit to Science Systems. Science Systems will pay about $50 million in cash for the developer of corporate accounting software.

Science Systems (http://www.scisys.co.uk), a consultant and software firm specializing in procurement and finance systems, and Coda have had a relationship since 1989, when they began partnering on global projects.

Coda recently released Coda E-Finance, an internet enabled accounting solution, which, according to statements, complements Science Systems current line of software and services.

Additionally, Baan (www.baan.com), which specializes in ERP and CRM software, has committed to consolidating its product lines. -- Christopher McConnell
