Compaq Offers Enterprise Toolkit 2.0 for 64-bit Applications

Compaq Computer Corp. today announced the availability of a number of advancements in the 64-bit development environment. Compaq Enterprise Toolkit 2.0 will give developers new capabilities to visually develop and optimize threaded applications, component-based applications on Microsoft's COM protocol, as well as high-performance technical and scientific applications, all from the same PC environment.

Compaq is extending its offering of profiling tools that leverage the Alpha 64-bit architecture for peak performance. Developers will now have greater capability for producing applications for Tru64 Unix, Windows NT, and Linux. With the 64-bit development environment, complex distributed, multiplatform, client-server solutions are created and maintained from a single environment using simple PC-style techniques.
