Entry-Level SAN Tool Bows

DataCore says it is shipping an entry-level version of its enterprise resource analysis, monitoring and reporting tool for Windows and storage area networks (SAN).

SANmaestro Monitor is designed to provide tools available in DataCore's enterprise products to smaller businesses at a scaled-down price. The product is a starter version of the company’s larger SANmaestro analysis and decision support tool. Both products aim to improve capacity planning, optimize resource usage, and administer quality of service.

"Many companies want to manage quality of service levels or have begun billing or charge-backs of IT costs to company profit centers or affiliates based on usage or quality of service...To manage IT assets effectively, one needs the right information, an automated approach to gather and organize metrics, plus simple reporting and analysis tools," the Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based company said in a statement.

SANmaestro Monitor tracks and analyzes many Windows metrics and storage parameters, including system information, memory and processor usage, IP traffic and network interfaces, input/output and disk usage, including storage capacity, physical ports, input/output bandwidth and throughput.

SANmaestro Monitor for SANmelody-based systems and for networks of Windows-based systems starts at $4,998.
