Intel Rolls Out 1.13 GHz Chip

Intel Corp. introduced the fastest processor to date - the Intel Pentium III at 1.13 gigahertz.

Using BAPCo's SYSmark 2000 benchmark running under Windows 2000, the Pentium III processor delivered a system-level performance score of 208, compared to a score of 197 on the 1-GHz Pentium III.

The 1.13-GHz is priced at $990 in 1,000-unit quantities and is currently available. - Isaac Slepner
