Sqribe Technologies Links Portal to PeopleSoft

Portals are becoming an important part of ERP and Business Intelligence as a whole. In aiming to gain a better market share, SAP launched the EnjoySAP initiative last month. It was a move to put a friendlier face on robust business applications. Fresh from its announcement it would be acquired by Brio Technology Inc. (www.brio.com), Sqribe Technologies Corp. (www.sqribe.com) announced the immediate availability of an integration module that enables companies to integrate their enterprise portals with PeopleSoft Inc. (www.peoplesoft.com) applications called RM/QuickConnect for PeopleSoft.

The new software allows for tighter integration between back-office enterprise systems -- such as HR, manufacturing, and finance -- and Web-based portals on the desktop that provide end-users with business information in a familiar, "ready to consume" format. Designed to facilitate integration between PeopleSoft and Sqribe's ReportMart Enterprise Information Portal, the new RM/QuickConnect for PeopleSoft software is the first in a series of modules Sqribe plans to offer for PeopleSoft and other major enterprise applications.

RM/QuickConnect simplifies and accelerates the process of creating a secure, flexible infrastructure for providing self-service access to PeopleSoft reports and other enterprise information via a familiar portal interface. Using XML as the standard for inter-application communication, RM/QuickConnect for PeopleSoft enables companies to provide a single point of access to PeopleSoft reports and other enterprise information, regardless of what tool was used to create the reports (e.g. SQR, Crystal, nVision) or what format they are in (.lis, .spf, html, .xls, .pdf, and others).

RM/QuickConnect for PeopleSoft provides capabilities for facilitating the publishing and distribution of PeopleSoft report content; deriving users and organizational structures from PeopleSoft trees and tables; and integrating them into Sqribe's ReportMart Enterprise Information Portal. RM/QuickConnect for PeopleSoft automatically replicates PeopleSoft rollup hierarchies (including implied group associations) into the ReportMart portal as category trees. This provides IT organizations with a logical way to organize the report output and empowers end-users with an easy, Web-based interface for navigating PeopleSoft information.

RM/QuickConnect for PeopleSoft also provides powerful capabilities for initializing or updating portal access privileges with user and account information extracted from PeopleSoft tables. Additionally RM/QuickConnect facilitates batch publishing of report objects into the ReportMart portal, including custom SQR reports as well as report output generated by SQR or other reporting applications. -- Brian Ploskina, Assistant Editor
