Microsoft Makes Dynamics 365 Customer Service MCP Server Generally Available

Microsoft has made the Dynamics 365 Customer Service Model Context Protocol (MCP) server generally available, giving organizations a standardized way to connect AI agents with customer service data and business processes. The MCP tools and MCP apps used by Service Agent in Microsoft 365 Copilot are now available as an independent offering that organizations can connect to a growing ecosystem of MCP-compatible AI clients.

The MCP server enables compatible AI assistants and agentic applications to securely interact with Dynamics 365 Customer Service through the open Model Context Protocol standard. The capability allows AI agents to retrieve case information, update records, execute customer service workflows and access knowledge resources while respecting existing security permissions and governance controls, using more than 90 service-oriented tools spanning many day-to-day workflows in a customer service organization. The standardized interface is intended to simplify the development of AI-powered customer service applications and reduce the need for custom integrations.

According to Microsoft, the generally available release builds on growing enterprise adoption of AI agents that can automate multi-step customer support tasks while working alongside human service representatives. Organizations can use the MCP server to integrate Dynamics 365 Customer Service with compatible AI tools while maintaining centralized management of customer data and access policies. Administrators can connect it to Copilot Studio and supported MCP clients through the Agent 365 Tooling Gateway.
