Copilot in PowerPoint Gets New Tools for On-Brand, AI-Built Presentations

Microsoft is giving Copilot in PowerPoint more control over how AI-generated presentations look and how they are assembled, adding capabilities intended to reduce the manual work required to turn generated content into a finished business deck.
The company unveiled Brand Kit and new Copilot Skills on Sept. 14. Brand Kit supplies Copilot with an organization’s visual guidelines so generated presentations can more closely reflect established branding, while Skills broadens the presentation-building tasks the AI assistant can perform.
Rather than relying solely on prompts to describe how a presentation should look, the tech company says Brand Kit gives Copilot access to branding guidance it can apply when creating presentations.
In theory, it should make it easier for employees to generate decks that more closely follow corporate standards without manually correcting every slide afterward.
The Redmond-based company is also introducing Skills in Copilot for PowerPoint. The feature expands the types of presentation-related tasks Copilot can perform, moving it beyond simply generating individual slides or rewriting existing text.
Together, the additions point toward Microsoft making Copilot more aware of both the context surrounding a presentation and the work required to produce it.
Instead of generating a generic deck that users then must bring into line with company standards, Microsoft is trying to incorporate more of those requirements directly into the AI-assisted workflow.
For Microsoft 365 administrators, Brand Kit could also make centrally established branding more relevant to how employees use generative AI.
As organizations expand Copilot use beyond basic drafting and summarization, controlling how AI-generated business content looks and behaves is becoming another part of managing the technology.
The additions are another step in Microsoft's effort to turn Copilot into a more active creation tool across Microsoft 365.
PowerPoint is increasingly able to use AI not just to suggest content, but to help assemble finished business presentations.
