Microsoft Joins Workday's AI Agent Partner Network

Microsoft has become a key partner in Workday's newly launched AI Agent Partner Network, aligning with other industry leaders to integrate AI agents into enterprise workforce systems.

This collaboration, announced during Workday's DevCon event earlier this month, enables organizations to manage both human and digital workers through Workday's unified platform, reflecting a significant shift in enterprise operations.

Also announced at DevCon is Workday's Agent Gateway, which comprises tools designed to support a future workforce made up of both humans and intelligent digital agents. These tools, in concert with the new partner program, will allow customers to discover, deploy and govern AI agents across platforms, including those powered by Microsoft, within a unified system of record -- namely, the Workday Agent System of Record (ASOR), a new AI-native layer within the Workday platform designed to manage digital agents much like human employees. The ASOR provides tools for assigning roles, defining data access, tracking agent performance, and ensuring alignment with business goals. Whether an AI agent is built by Workday, Microsoft or another partner, the ASOR acts as the control plane that governs how agents operate, what actions they can take, and how they interact with people and processes inside the organization.

Meanwhile, the aforementioned Agent Gateway lets AI agents from across the partner ecosystem connect directly to the ASOR. Built on shared protocols -- including the Model Context Protocol (MCP) and Agent-to-Agent Protocol (A2A) -- the gateway enables agents from Workday, Microsoft and others to securely exchange information and coordinate tasks across enterprise platforms. The result is a more unified and intelligent workforce, where human employees and AI agents collaborate in real time to streamline processes, reduce friction, and drive measurable impact.

Helping launch the partner network along with Microsoft are fellow cloud giants Amazon Web Services and Google, along with enterprise heavyweights like Accenture, Deloitte, IBM, PwC, KPMG, Adobe and others.

The Agent Gateway is expected to be available to early adopters by the end of 2025, with partner-built agents -- including those powered by Microsoft -- already discoverable on the Workday Marketplace.
