Microsoft Releases Dynamics GP 2015 R2

The next version of Microsoft's Dynamics GP enterprise resource planning (ERP) product is now generally available.

Starting Monday, Microsoft partners can download Dynamics GP 2015 R2 via the PartnerSource portal here.

The new release features "[s]implified Microsoft Azure deployment with new scripts and utilities to help Microsoft Dynamics partners automate provisioning of Microsoft Dynamics GP instances on Microsoft Azure," according to Microsoft's announcement.

In addition, the R2 version includes several features that have been requested by customers, such as the ability to view all documents related to a vendor on a single pane, improvements to the SmartList Designer feature, and more native workflows aimed at accounts-payable functions.

Microsoft is also developing a "companion app" that would enable Dynamics GP users to easily request time off. The app, which Microsoft says will be available "soon," will work on Windows 8 devices, as well as Apple iPad and Android tablets, according to this post on the Dynamics GP blog.

A detailed list of the Dynamics GP 2015 R2's capabilities is available in this informational Microsoft PDF. Microsoft's Dynamics GP blog also regularly highlights new features in the R2 version.

Microsoft last updated its Dynamics GP product last December with the release of Dynamics GP 2015. The timing of the R2 version's rollout is in keeping Microsoft's stated six-month update cycle for its Dynamics products.
