Microsoft Releases OpsMgr Client Management Pack

Microsoft released a client operating system problem tracking component on Monday that works with its System Center Operations Manager 2007 product.

The latest release of the component, which is called the "Windows Client Monitoring Management Pack," includes Vista bug fixes, as well as Windows 7 monitoring support. The Management Pack works by using an agent installed on the client that sends information to Operations Manager. Should any problems be found, Operations Manager will display an alert or health status report listing the issues.

The Management Pack aids in the detection and resolution of both hardware and software problems. It works with "Client 2000, XP, Vista and Windows 7 operating systems," according to an Operations Manager team blog post.

The Management Pack checks various client functionalities. It will check processor performance, memory utilization, disk space and performance, OS services, and network health, among other matters.

The new updated Windows Client Monitoring Management Pack can be downloaded here.
