FoxPro 9 Service Pack, "Sedna" Beta Released

Microsoft has launched beta versions of Visual FoxPro 9 Service Pack 2 and its associated "Sedna" extensions.

The FoxPro service pack release includes "significant enhancements" to the reporting capabilities, according to Microsoft.

The Sedna toolset includes six components, including an Upsizing Wizard and a Data Explorer, Microsoft said. Sedna is meant to ensure FoxPro 9 works with components made with other Microsoft technologies such as Visual Studio 2005.

The pair of beta releases arrive as Microsoft begins to phase out its backing of the FoxPro language. While it plans to continue some level of support for the technology until 2015, the 9.0 version will be the last one Redmond releases.

The company's decision to sunset FoxPro met with widespread dismay from its fervent worldwide community of developers, as Redmond Developer News previously reported

Both betas are available for download here.
