Microsoft to Release Q4 Earnings

Microsoft is scheduled to discuss its earnings this evening for the fourth quarter of the 2002 fiscal year and for the entire year, which ended June 30.

The consensus of 24 financial analysts is for quarterly earnings per share of $0.417 and yearly earnings per share of $1.826, according to the Nasdaq Web site.

Microsoft shares were trading at $52.60 at mid-day, up a few points from the Wednesday close of $52, although the shares had also dipped below $52 in morning trading.

Microsoft's earnings statements come after IBM earnings statements that disclosed some weakness at Big Blue, and announcements of earnings-related layoffs at Siemens and Intel.
