Amdahl Unveils New Server Line

Amdahl Corp., a division of the Fujitsu group of companies, today introduced the Primergy brand of its Intel-based servers. The brand change to Primergy is a move toward full standardization across the many companies of the Fujitsu Group.

Amdahl (www.amdahl.com) is offering a full range of Primergy servers from entry-level one-way LAN, print, and small workgroup servers, to large 8-way data center servers. As an extension to this range, Amdahl plans to deliver Intel IA-64-based Primergy servers next year.

The Primergy brand is a line cobbled together from several server product lines produced and distributed by a number of Fujitsu Group (www.fujitsu.com) companies.

The Primergy ES200 and ES210 servers are available for LAN, print, and small workgroups. The ES280 desk-side or rackmount server can be used for a small e-business or intranet server. The Primergy line also offers the MS380 departmental server and MS610 enterprise servers, the latter featuring 4-way Xeon processors. The most powerful Primergy is the 700-MHz, 8-way Xeon-based HS910 data center server. - Isaac Slepner
