Compaq Offers Server Deployment Tool

Compaq Computer Corp. introduced the SmartStart Scripting Toolkit for businesses that need to deploy hundreds to thousands of servers. The toolkit supports the Compaq ProLiant DL and ML series servers, including the new ProLiant DL360.

Using SmartStart technology, the toolkit provides a flexible way to create standard server configuration scripts. These are used to automate many of the manual steps in the server configuration process, cutting time from each server deployment.

Key features include SmartStart technology; replication utilities to create and copy server hardware and array configuration script files; configuration files; and scripting, enabling the unattended installation of the operating system.
