Information Builders Ships Metadata Solution

Information Builders, a provider of Web reporting and enterprise integration solutions, released version 4.3 of Meta Directory, a metadata management console that users an industry-standard repository to maintain the information that administrators need in data warehouse applications.

Meta Directory is built around the Open Information Model (OIM), an industry-standard metadata model developed by Microsoft Corp.

Meta Directory 4.3 automatically captures metadata from both the reporting and extraction, transformation, and load (ETL) activities. This includes the WebFocus Managed Reporting environment and SAP R/3, in addition to the stored procedure, middleware, and ETL metadata captured in previous releases. Because the metadata resides in a standard repository, users and administrators can browse and manage Information Builders' metadata alongside metadata from other vendors' tools such as Microsoft's SQL Server 7 and Computer Associates' ERwin.
