IBM Presents WAP Development Solution

IBM Corp. announced a software package that allows businesses to create online marketplaces that interact with wireless handheld devices such as mobile phones, PDAs, and pagers.

The software, WebSphere Commerce Suite, will be a fully integrated e-commerce solution for integrating buyers and sellers in an electronic marketplace. Additionally, the software will securely communicate with wireless devices through the support of wireless application protocol (WAP) and short message services (SMS).

WebSphere Commerce Suite will offer functions and tools for e-business including various dynamic trading models such as exchange, RFP/RFQ, and auctions. Addtionally, the solution provides aggregated catalog, secure membership registration, and access control management, as well as business intelligence (BI) and reporting functions.
