Visual Networks Inc., a service management solutions (SMS) provider for e-business, announced a SMS for IP networks developed in collaboration with Cisco Systems Inc. The new integrated solution offers customers faster rollout of new IP services and increased performance visibility of New World networks.
In conjunction with today's announcement of CiscoWorks2000 SMS, Visual Networks (www.visualnetworks.com) introduced a Visual IP InSight Cisco SMS module, the first to support CiscoWorks2000 SMS.
The combined solution, which can be deployed by enterprises or IP service providers, isolates the root cause of problems between the respective components of the network, whether they are within the customer environment or across the Internet.
The solution extracts information from Cisco (www.cisco.com) routers and correlates it with information already available from Visual IP InSight client software residing at the user desktop and at key network locations. The result is a capability to correlate the end user experience with detailed information on the performance of the network between Cisco's edge routers.
All the technology is based on open XML interfaces between the Visual IP InSight and CiscoWorks2000 systems. - Isaac Slepner
