F5 Networks Adds to Big IP Family

F5 Networks Inc. announced several new additions to its Big IP Controller family of load balancing appliances.

The new additions are Big IP Fire Guard, providing load balancing and high availability of firewalls; Big IP Load Balancer, providing load balancing of Internet servers; Big IP Cache Controller, providing load balancing and high availability of cache servers; and Big IP e-Commerce Controller, managing SSL encryption and centralizing SSL traffic management.

The Big IP family is the entry-level family of F5 products, designed for use with single data center Web sites. The products are platform-independent appliances. In addition to the Big IP family, F5 also introduced F5 Easy Start, a subscription service agreement for F5's appliances.

All of the new F5 appliances are priced at $9,990. Load Balancer is currently available, e-Commerce Controller will be available next quarter, and the rest will be available at the end of this quarter.
