Veritas Demonstrates 32-Node Cluster

Veritas Software Corp. staged the industry's first 32-node Windows NT clustering and wide-area failover demonstration at the opening night of Inforum 2000, the European storage management software users conference in London.

Veritas (www.veritas.com) launched the Global Cluster Manager and Cluster Server for Windows NT at the conference. The Global Cluster Manager is a cluster management product for Veritas Cluster Server for both Unix and NT applications. Using a single Web browser console, an administrator will be able to monitor Veritas Cluster Server clusters anywhere in the world, both within and across firewall.

Cluster Server for NT can support up to 32 servers in a single cluster and can monitor up to 256 servers from a single console. Cluster Server for NT can quickly fail-over critical Microsoft SQL databases from one server to another, while logically re-mapping SAN attached storage to the new server. Within mixed Unix and NT server environments, Cluster Server for NT can be used to manage high availability of Solaris, HP/UX, and Windows NT clusters from a single console.

More than 200 companies will be participating in Inforum 2000, which is expected to host 800 users from 21 countries across Europe.
