Interphase Corp., a supplier of Fibre Channel technologies, and Alteon WebSystems Inc., a provider of Internet infrastructure solutions, have formed a strategic partnership to develop products based on the two companies' technologies, Fibre Channel and Gigabit Ethernet.
Under the exclusive agreement, Interphase will design, manufacture, and sell new network adapters that provide both Gigabit Ethernet and Fibre Channel connectivity from a single slot, providing an integrated solution for Web servers, rack-optimized servers, and other enterprise systems with I/O slot limitations. The new adapters will be co-branded by both Interphase and Alteon and will be sold through Interphase.
The new adapters are based on Alteon's Tigon2 ASIC technology, developed for use in its ACEnic Gigabit Ethernet adapter.
