Hewlett-Packard Co. will integrate three of its network management packages into Windows 2000 environments. HP TopTools, HP OpenView and HP Web JetAdmin will all have new homes in the migration to Windows 2000.
HP (www.hp.com) TopTools is a modular, Web-based device management software suite that allows IT managers to configure, manage, and update device resources from any location within a network. The HP OpenView enterprise management portfolio provides management capabilities for multi-vendor environments, including support for Windows 2000. HP Web JetAdmin is a peripheral management software package.
In its new incarnation, HP TopTools will integrate into the Windows 2000 environment and provide support for the Microsoft Management Console (MMC). IT managers will have access to TopTools' remote asset management, fault management, configuration management, and security management from within the interface of Windows 2000's MMC.
The next release of HP Web JetAdmin will integrate Windows 2000 and extend HP OpenView to provide network printing services.
The current version of HP TopTools is available at HP's Web site. The new HP TopTools and HP Web JetAdmin versions will be available later this year. -- Isaac Slepner
