Jeff Papows, the CEO of Lotus Development Corp., has announced his
resignation, effective February 1.
Al Zollar, general manager of IBM's Network Computing Software division, has
been named to replace Papows as CEO. Zollar joined IBM in 1977 as a systems
engineer trainee and currently serves as a member of IBM's Worldwide Management
Council.
Papows' resignation caps a year of turmoil for him at Lotus (www.lotus.com) that included being named in a
sexual discrimination complaint and a Wall Street Journal profile questioning
his honesty about his background.
Papows will remain at Lotus to assist in the transition, the company said in
a statement. It has been reported that Papows will then head a start-up company. -- Isaac Slepner
