InfoExpress Announces FireWalker VPN

InfoExpress Inc., a provider of remote access solutions, will release FireWalker VPN Suite, a new virtual private networking (VPN) suite to help organizations quickly provide secure remote access to their entire user communities. FireWalker VPN Suite consists of a multi-mode remote access VPN client as well as a personal firewall to protect home users exposed to security risks through constant DSL and cable connections.

FireWalker VPN Suite includes VSClient Universal and Extranet edition VPN clients. Universal is used for remote employees and on-site consultants, supporting file sharing and Internet applications. The multi-mode VPN client supports IPSec for direct Internet connections and TCP-based tunnels to allow firewall, proxy server, and network address translation (NAT) device traversal and direct connections with no configuration required. VSClient Extranet is used for business partners and customers and features non-intrusive operation and installs without rebooting. It allows firewall, proxy server, and NAT device traversal, supports Internet applications, and extracts proxy traversal information from the PC.

The suite's VPN gateway, VSGate, is a multi-mode VPN gateway that supports VSClient Universal and Extranet. The gateway supports policy-based access to the corporate network, and supports enterprise features such as load balancing, redundancy, and remote management.

The personal firewall protects home users accessing corporate networks via constantly connected DSL and cable connections, users on corporate LANs, and dial-up users.

Remote PC components for FireWalker VPN Suite are available for Windows 95, 98, and NT 4.0. Support for Windows 2000 will be available in the first quarter of 2000. The suite will be available in January, with the IPSec component to be added in the first quarter of 2000.
