Benchmarking Software for Windows 2000 to be Released

The Business Application Performance Corporation (BAPco) has introduced SYSmark 2000, a benchmarking utility for Windows 2000 .

SYSmark focuses on the performance of Internet content creation and office productivity applications, such as Adobe Photoshop, Metacreations Bryce, Microsoft Word 2000, and Netscape Communicator. Selected Fortune 500 companies provide usage data, which SYSmark uses to attempt to match its workloads to actual usage patterns.

The twelve application benchmarks are accessed through the benchmark manager, which standardizes tests to ensure reliable results.

In addition to Windows 2000, SYSmark also supports Windows 98, 95, and NT 4.0, as well as most European languages.

BAPco, a non-profit consortium of computer industry companies and publications, will distribute the software through MadOnion.com.
