Mission Critical Expands Offering for BackOffice

Systems management vendor Mission Critical Software expanded its OnePoint Operations Manager toolset for Microsoft BackOffice to support SQL Server, Site Server and distributed transactions.

The toolset is designed to help IT managers monitor and manage service levels, detect and automatically correct application failures, and track application performance. Prior to supporting SQL Server and Site Server, Mission Critical’s tool managed Microsoft Proxy Server, Microsoft System Management Server, Microsoft Transaction Server, and Microsoft SNA Server.

The SQL Server component performs proactive database queries and monitors performance counters and events such as user utilization, CPU impact, lock usage, and database replication between instances. For Site Server, Operations Manager manages the availability and performance of components such as List Builder, Membership Broker, Push, and Search. It also provides information about when authentication requests and/or deployments fail and provides alerts on obscure errors that indicate the potential for a more drastic error.

Support for both Microsoft Transaction Server and Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator in the tool detects, alerts on and automatically responds to problems with transaction-based applications such as SQL Server and SNA Server, theoretically before the problems develop into outages.

Operations Manager for Microsoft BackOffice is currently available.
