Gadzoox Networks Debuts Novell Directory Services for SAN at Comdex

Gadzoox Networks Inc. (www.gadzoox.com), a provider of storage area networking (SAN) products, announced today that the company has entered into partnership with Novell (www.novell.com) to integrate Novell Directory Services (NDS) into its modular SAN switch, Capellix 3000.

Gadzoox is debuting the new switch at a presentation in the Novell Partner Pavilion at Comdex (www.zdevents.com/comdex/fall99). The Gadzoox Capellix 3000 switch is NDS-enabled to serve as a platform for directory-based hardware management using NDS and Novell's ConsoleOne Java management product.

The modular design of Gadzoox products, such as the Capellix 3000 switch, enables a high degree of extensibility and manageability through plug-in modules and embedded intelligent agents. By combining this architecture with the policy-rich service capabilities of NDS, users can map comprehensive business management practices to SAN management policies to administer robust security, configuration, asset, performance and fault management capabilities within an open standards framework.

Gadzoox and Novell will collaborate to develop solutions based on the Common Information Model (CIM) and Directory-Enabled Networks (DEN) specifications in order to expedite the acceptance and implementation of these open standards throughout the industry. The two companies demonstrate their commitment to open standards by using the industry standard lightweight directory access protocol (LDAP) for interfacing NDS with Gadzoox products.
