Avnet Offers Enterprise Backup and Disaster Recovery Solution

Avnet Computer announced that it will market the STORServer family of fully integrated storage solutions designed to provide a turnkey, low-maintenance implementation for the backup, restore, and disaster recovery needs of the enterprise.

STORServer solutions consist of three distinct models: the STORServer 100 Series, 200 Series, and 400 Series. Each configuration comprises full hardware and software integration, tape management, installation, training and support to provide a storage management solution in a single, comprehensive rack system.

Every STORServer arrives on-site fully integrated and customized for the particular network environment, and the installed solution is capable of performing network backups across all platforms, including remote and mobile users.

A STORServer system consists of the CPU hardware, tape library, disk array, network interface, Windows NT Server 4.0, STORServer Distributed Storage Manager (SDSM) utility, a remote client backup capability, and the automated tape management interface. The STORServer 200 and 400 Series models include SDSM's Disaster Recovery Management utility that outlines a specific recovery plan and executes it on a daily basis, providing administrators with all necessary data and location information to jump-start a full recovery if necessary.
