Veritas, Data General Sign Backup Agreement

Veritas Software Corp. (Mountain View, Calif.,
www.veritas.com) and Data General Corp. (Westboro, Mass.,
www.dg.com) today announced a strategic OEM licensing, development and sales agreement to provide Windows 2000 users with highly scalable enterprise backup solutions.
Under the agreement, Data General will offer Veritas NetBackup for Windows NT with its Windows NT AViiON server line.
"The combination of Veritas storage management software and Data General servers and storage devices will help provide continuous data accessibility and easy manageability of storage resources as well as improved system performance for users who are deploying Windows NT in mission-critical enterprises," says David Spenhoff, vice president of marketing for Veritas.
"Many of our customers rely on large-scale data warehouses and data marts to house their mission-critical data and applications," says Jim Geronaitis, manager of storage marketing for Data General.
