Tivoli Launches New Version of Management Package

Tivoli Systems Inc. (Austin, Texas, www.tivoli.com) announced Tivoli Enterprise, a new version of its management package, which was previously known as TME 10.

The new version has been re-engineered from a two-tier to a three-tier architecture. In addition to the management server and client, Tivoli has added a gateway tier, which acts like a traffic cop within each Tivoli management region, according to Martin Neath, Tivoli's executive vice president. As a result, each management server can now handle 10,000 desktops, up from 2,500.

The Tivoli Management Agent has also been enhanced with One Touch Management -- once the agent is installed, all future updates of this and other desktop software can be updated and installed from the server. -- Michele Rosen, Staff Reporter/New York Correspondent
