Microsoft commemorated the first year of Viva on Friday with news that the platform now has "more than 10 million monthly active users."
Various Viva stats were described by Kirk Koenigsbauer, Microsoft's chief operating officer and vice president of experiences and devices, in the announcement. He added that Viva now has "over 1,000 paying customers --including Blum, Nationwide, Old Mutual, PayPal, REI and Unilever."
Viva is Microsoft's "employee experience platform" that offers subscriptions to employment-themed applications (called "modules"), which surface within the Microsoft Teams collaboration service.
So far, all four Viva modules -- Connections, Insights, Learning and Topics -- are at the "general availability" commercial-release stage. A fifth module, an "objective and key results" service based on Microsoft's acquisition of Ally.io, announced in October, is yet to arrive. It's expected to appear "later this year," Koenigsbauer indicated.
Here's what the four commercially released modules do:
- Viva Connections provides a news feed and permits content sharing.
- Viva Insights is for employee time management.
- Viva Learning gives employees access to learning libraries.
- Viva Topics is used to surface information within organizations.
Microsoft indicated that more than one million topics have been generated by Topics users. An average of 48 million focus hours per month were booked by Insights users.
Koenigsbauer also highlighted partner efforts associated with Viva. Notable partners building apps or services for Viva include "ServiceNow, Qualtrics, Headspace, Cornerstone OnDemand, Workday, Espressive, OpenSesame, and EdCast," he indicated.
Microsoft also has "more than 200 Viva solution partners," including "Accenture/Avanade, EY, KPMG, PwC and Tata Consultancy Services," Koenigsbauer added.
Additionally, Microsoft has trained more than 5,000 individual partners on Microsoft Viva. Individual partners are people with consulting and architect types of jobs.
