AWS Launches Competency for Cloud Management Partners

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is expanding its partner competencies to recognize partners focusing on cloud management tools.

The AWS competency program spotlights partner vendors that demonstrate proficiency in specific technologies and have proven their ability to help customers succeed in specialized solution areas.

Announced last week, the new Cloud Management Tools Competency identifies AWS partners with expertise in three areas: Administration & Provisioning, Cloud Governance, and Resource & Cost Optimization. The category helps customers identify vendors that can help them accelerate their AWS adoption by delivering operations and governance best practices.

"IT organizations balance delivering the benefits of a cloud strategy; agility, scale, resiliency and cost savings, while maintaining governance, compliance and efficient use of resources," AWS said in a Sept. 13 post. "AWS Cloud Management Tools Partners have proven customer success in delivering both. Their customers can confidently manage AWS environments using a 'guardrails' approach while monitoring for any non-compliant activities that may occur."

AWS identified eight vendors in the Cloud Governance area: CloudAware, CloudCheckr, Cloud Conformity, CloudHealth, Fugue Cloud Infrastructure Automation & Security, Moogsoft AIOps, Splunk App for AWS and Turbot.

"APN [AWS Partner Network] Partner solutions in this category aim to simplify the management of AWS resources. They provide policy driven guardrails to track, report, alert and act on configuration changes and non-compliant resources or actions," AWS said. "They easily integrate with AWS management tools and external third-party solutions to drive governance of a customer's cloud resources."

Under Resource and Cost Optimization, it listed: Cloudability Continuous Cloud Spend Optimization, CloudCheckr, CloudHealth, GorillaStack, OptimizeNow and Turbonomic.

"APN Partner solutions in this category help customers gain visibility into their AWS accounts and see exact workload costs, resource utilization, chargebacks, and more," AWS said. "Once cost visibility is achieved, APN Partner solutions provide resource and cost optimization recommendations to help customers maximize their AWS investment."

No vendors were listed yet for Administration & Provisioning.
