Network Associates Delivers Switchable Sniffer

Network Associates Inc. has released its Multiview Distributed Sniffer System, which delivers network analysis coverage for distributed local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) segments from a single remote console. Designed for enterprise e-business networks that require cost-effective, on-demand troubleshooting of remote network segments, the Multiview Distributed Sniffer complements Network Associates' Distributed Sniffer System with RMON solution, which provides round-the-clock proactive monitoring and analysis for maintaining optimal network and application availability.

The Multiview Distributed Sniffer combines the capabilities of a standard Distributed Sniffer Pro server with a matrix switch in a single hardware unit. The Multiview Distributed Sniffer delivers analysis for up to 16 LAN segments of major topologies, including token ring, Gigabit Ethernet, and full-duplex 10/100 Mbps fast Ethernet, or up to eight WAN links of ATM or frame relay. The Multiview Distributed Sniffer allows on-demand analysis of network traffic in real-time, providing expert analysis on data to help network managers identify and resolve network problems such as hardware conflicts, slow WAN application response times, and database transaction failures.

New features of the Multiview Distributed Sniffer include switching between network segments from a single management console for monitoring and problem identification; and full line-rate analysis in full duplex for major protocols, or capture and filter at full line-rate in full duplex capture mode for Gigabit Ethernet and ATM.

The Multiview Distributed Sniffer System is currently available.
