Network Instruments Introduces Network Mapping Tool

Network Instruments LLC has announced the release of Link Analyst, a graphical network mapping software package which includes route mapping and historical logging capabilities. Link Analyst offers the ability to detect network abnormalities or report device or route failures. Link Analyst uses an intuitive, user-configurable display to give network administrators a view of the status of each device on their LAN, WAN, or any route between.
Link Analyst features route mapping. With this feature, Link Analyst can map the route from the administrator's system to any other IP device. Routes can be on private or public networks, via the Internet, or within a single LAN. Administrators can use Link Analyst's route mapping capability to keep track of an enterprise's WAN, point-to-point connection, or critical site connection. After mapping a route, Link Analyst uses its historical logging function to log response times for each portion of the route, keeping total route response times in a database.
Link Analyst is extendable for larger networks offering map reference items or "go to" links that are icons which represent one or many downstream LANs or WANs on any map. These map reference items allow an administrator to build a map with icons representing subordinate maps.
Link Analyst ensures that all statistics are recorded for historical interpretation and baselining. In addition to pinpointing the response time of a station or device, Link Analyst also provides user configurable service tracking for any device.
