Cisco, PeopleSoft Provide QoS Guidelines for Enterprise Apps

Cisco Systems, Inc. and PeopleSoft, Inc. (www.peoplesoft.com) have allied to provide guidelines for using the CiscoAssure quality of service (QoS) solution with PeopleSoft enterprise resource planning (ERP) applications.

The companies will deliver implementation guidelines, application-profiling templates for CiscoAssure, and test reports enabling QoS for PeopleSoft applications.

Customers can ensure performance of vital transactions by deploying Cisco QoS Policy Manager according to the new guidelines, using the Cisco infrastructure. Business-critical applications, where Cisco QoS Policy Manager is properly deployed, will be protected from degradation caused by an increase in Web-based traffic.

Cisco intelligent networks provide policy-based QoS support for PeopleSoft applications. Cisco provides the depth of QoS capabilities needed, and the products required for end-to-end deployment in enterprise scale networks. Additionally, CiscoAssure Policy Networking provides policy-based management of network-wide QoS services.

"The ability to prioritize network resources based on business objectives will be of great value to our customers, as in the case of United Water Resources," says Pete Abene, management director of Technical Infrastructure Global Alliance at EDS. "In order to achieve true mission-critical prioritization of applications, customers need to know the required network performance will be achieved."

Cisco QoS Policy Manager offers centralized policy control and automated policy deployment product protecting business-critical applications performance across the entire network. With an infrastructure consisting of Cisco router platforms and Cisco Catalyst switches, PeopleSoft customers can take full advantage of these features.

"Based on test results that verify performance benefits, we recommend that our customers deploy CiscoAssure in their PeopleSoft environments," says Marc Stillman, vice president of the Alliance Solutions Center at PeopleSoft. "Our enterprise customers will receive more predictable performance and higher availability using CiscoAssure with their PeopleSoft solutions." --Thomas Sullivan, Senior Reporter/Northwest Correspondent
