Veeam and Microsoft Team on Backup and Copilot AI Solutions

Veeam and Microsoft's partnership is getting extended to backup-as-a-service and Copilot AI collaborations, per a Thursday Veeam announcement.
A "multi-year engineering collaboration" will focus on backup and recovery solutions for cybersecurity issues, as well as "outages and natural disasters." Specifically, the companies are collaborating on Veeam solutions for "data protection" and "ransomware recovery" for Microsoft 365 and Azure customers, according to Anand Eswaran, Veeam's CEO. He also pointed to integration with Microsoft's Copilot generative artificial intelligence tools.
"This partnership will also deliver incredible joint innovation, including bringing the capabilities of Microsoft Copilot to the Veeam product family," Eswaran said in a released statement.
The idea of integrating Microsoft's Copilot AI tools with Veeam solutions was also echoed by Justin Althoff, executive vice president and chief commercial officer at Microsoft.
"Together with Veeam, we are already helping millions of users fully protect their business data across Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Azure," Althoff said in a released statement. "I am pleased to build on our collaboration by combining Microsoft's copilot and Azure with Veeam's data protection solutions to help our customers back up, protect, and recover their data estate better and faster than ever before."
Microsoft Copilot will be used to generate "automated data analysis" with Veeam's backup and recovery solutions. The two companies also pledged plenty of other joint efforts, such as "integrated support for the latest APIs for Microsoft 365 Backup Storage" and "the launch of new Veeam backup and recovery capabilities for Microsoft Azure."
Both companies plan to market Veeam's data protection and recovery solutions for Microsoft 365 and Azure users. There's also joint support for customer migrations to the newly announced Veeam Data Cloud backup-as-a-service solution, which is hosted on Microsoft Azure infrastructure, offering data protections for Azure and Microsoft 365 customers. In addition, customers can use Veeam's Kasten data protection platform when migrating to Microsoft's Azure Kubernetes Service, using Kasten for protection.
Veeam, offering various data protection solutions, both as a service and for on-premises installations, claims that it protects more than 450,000 customers worldwide.
