VMware Supports BEA's Effort To Virtualize Java Apps

At last week's VMworld, BEA and VMware announced their partnership on a project
to allow BEA's Java applications to work within virtual environments created
with VMware's tools.
BEA's LiquidVM VI Client Extension will work as a VMware Virtual Infrastructure
plug-in. According to a press release, the extension will allow VMware VirtualCenter
"users to create, configure and manage LiquidVM-based virtual machines,
such as WebLogic Server Virtual Edition or any other Java application"
from within VirtualCenter.
VirtualCenter is comprised of a suite of tools for centralized provisioning,
monitoring and management of virtualized environments.
According to a BEA press release, LiquidVM "is a virtualization-enabled
version of the JRockit JVM that can run on a hypervisor without a standard OS."
VMware said it has plans- to include BEA's LiquidVM VI Client Extension in
future versions of VirtualCenter.
