Portal for Microsoft Partners Unveiled by IAMCP

The International Association of Microsoft Certified Partners (IAMCP) has established a Web site for software solutions providers. The site, SoftwareBizExchange.com, aims to foster greater communication among Microsoft partners, as well as encourage partner-to-partner collaboration.

Visitors to the site can post questions or share their knowledge about nuances of the software business. Forums on various topics are moderated by an IAMCP member with expertise in the subject matter, as well as real-world software business experience.

The site also features 11 "resource centers," or topics on how to best handle aspects of one's software business. The topics range from such basics as hiring the right talent, financing the business, setting a price for the product, marketing and writing good code, among others.

You can also find links to news and magazine articles (such as those found in Redmond Channel Partner or Redmond Developer News), plus listings about upcoming events and industry seminars.

The site serves the IAMCP's mission in helping to "build profitable connections among Microsoft partners around the world," according to Per Werngren IAMCP's president. It is meant to complement the resources already available to partners through the Microsoft Partner Program.

The site is a welcome development according to Allison Watson, Microsoft's corporate vice president, worldwide partner group.

"The P2P networking portal is a terrific way for partners to connect with each other and enhance their own channel ecosystem to drive new customer opportunities, acquire more diverse skills, expand into new geographies and build innovative customer solutions," Watson stated in an announcement issued by IAMCP.

The IAMCP is a professional association of Microsoft Certified Partners, Dynamics or Registered Partners. It has local or regional chapters around the world, with 4,000 members. More than half of its chapters are located in the United States.
