Maxoptix Corp. introduced two DVD-RAM libraries, the Maxoptix DVD520 and DVD540. Both are DVD-RAM jukeboxes designed to meet the random-access requirements of DVD-RAM.
The DVD530 and DVD540 use 5.2-GB double-sided DVD-RAM cartridges. This gives the 20-cartridge DVD520 a capacity of 104 GB and the 40-cartridge DVD540 a capacity of 208 GB. The jukeboxes feature a flipping mechanism to take advantage of the storage capacity on both sides of the discs, and are available with one or two drives.
The libraries are compatible with Windows NT and 2000, Solaris, and Unix environments, with management software available from independent vendors. Connectivity is via SCSI interface.
