Network Storage Solutions Inc. announced availability of Gigabit Ethernet over copper interfaces for selected products in its SPANStor NAS appliance line.
The 1000Base-T interface, commonly known as Copper Gigabit, is more cost-effective than traditional Gigabit Ethernet.
The copper interface is expected to be used primarily within wiring closets and between wiring closets separated by up to 100 meters, providing an ideal switch-to-server interconnect. The new interface supports Category 5 twisted-pair wiring connections.
