Data Junction Boasts Better Benchmarks on Oracle

Data Junction Corp. recently released benchmark results using its Data Integration Engine on the Oracle 8i database. Tests were performed on an NT server with a single processor.

According to Data Junction, the results indicated that the Data Junction GUI product increased Oracle load speed by about 300 percent. The performance gains were also achieved when the Data Junction was used to transform and integrate data between Oracle and other applications in heterogeneous environments. These other applications and data formats include SQL, XML, ERP, Legacy, and EDI.

For example, Data Junction would be used if a company already had a Web application build on top of its Oracle database. Data Junction could then integrate more information -- from either an ERP or CRM system – into the Oracle database. Data Junction also says its product can be used as a data warehouse.

To achieve the tests results, Data Junction (www.datajunction.com) ran a 100 MB file with 100,000 records that were 100 bytes per record. The benchmark the company used was not a standardized one, but Data Junction uses the same internal benchmark for all its tests – testing the same size and amount of files each time. The conversion tests were done using three different methods. Via the standard Oracle call interface (OCI) the conversion took 138 seconds; via the array insert in the OCI interface it took 34 seconds; and through the direct path load the conversion took 18 seconds. - Alicia Costanza
